It Doesn't End, And Don't Let It

Things that you need to remember: The number 42, how hard you can take a hit and keep getting up, don't forget to do something for the purpose of winning. I remember when I went from a college basketball player to being a office worker in my field of choice. I was an insurance agent for a company which soon become United Healthcare. I was going to enter a 5K race that I trained for, and I went in for a physical with Dr. Johnson. I mentioned the race, and I said to him, "I don't know why I got myself into this." He simply said in response, "To win." I thought to myself that is ridiculous. There were people running 5 minute miles, and I wasn't even close.
What I have found is that you keep stretching, and keep achieving. Even if you don't get there, take a look at where you have gotten, and what you have become. If you are doing it to to do it 'kind of', don't even try.
You might say, "I am not that way, I just am happy to be doing it." Change your mindset to strive to be the best. You might not get there, and you might not know why, but if you love it...Win It!!!
Enjoy the video.

What Will Push You?

"Somewhere between the athlete you've become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked for her."

Find Your Power

Touchdown! Music to his ears.
It doesn’t matter what the medium or method this story was brought about, the fact that a player at the level of the NFL, currently playing for the defending Super Bowl Champion +Seattle Seahawks, is unable to utilize the sense of hearing is attention grabbing. It was brought to my attention by a Duracell battery commercial. His name is Derrick Coleman Video Link
I know he was picked on, because I saw a child go through that first hand. He was in the third grade and he had the same hearing deficiencies that Mr. Coleman rose above. I tutored the young man in a youth center. The tutoring room was a safe haven for him because it got him separated from the other kids, and although he wouldn’t admit it, he stayed in that room for the two hours so he could avoid the feelings of isolation and bullying. He was still a kid, and just as hard to handle at times as any other kid. He really wasn’t supposed to stay in the room if he was finished with his homework, but I would see him make up things to do and I knew he did not want to be mixed in with the laughter directed at him for the way he talked. I let him stay.
In the room, other kids would stay there too, because they were intimidated as well. As a byproduct, the kids became friends. Kindred spirits in an environment that they wanted to stay away from.

What I will ask is; even though the rules may govern a particular protocol, is it always the prudent method? Is it wrong to feel they need to learn how to cope or maintain a satisfaction towards their hierarchy of needs? Most independent individuals have the choice to take themselves out of situations if they choose. In the youth center, because the child had to wait until his parent arrived he had no other choice but to stay in that environment. Is some immersion into an uncomfortable situation okay? Is that immersion something that will make him grow? I am sure it will, but the other extreme may cause other issues as well.
Derrick Coleman is a producer in the NFL, but how many other kids will shy away from their goals because accommodations are not being given to level the field or will they take advantage of the accommodations if they will make them uncomfortable? How many people will avoid getting to their potential if they can not hear or see the same things others take for granted. Is it too hard for teachers or coaches to take on this challenge with these persons? I am not perfect and I am not persecuting those that silently avoided these challenges. To myself, I will say...Don't!

To Derrick, you have found your power now keep finding that power. For the +Carolina Panthers  fans, “Keep Pounding”. For the +Detroit Lions fans, Keep Roaring. For the +Cleveland Browns fans, keep barking. For the +Alabama Crimson Tide fans keep rolling. For the +Pittsburgh Steelers fans, keep putting up that curtain. Finally for the +Michigan State University fans, We Will.

NBA Playoff Time 2015!!

Yes we're talking 'bout playoffs. Watching this best of video from Rohanmital is going to be great for you. You will say things like: "Jordan though, ooh, Kemp though, Barkley though, Steve Kerr!?!?!?" It is a best of video, and a lot of basketball fans start to come out of the woodwork for the +NBA when these rounds start up. For me, the +NCAA March Madness has been over, and I am starting to notice they have different color uniforms in other leagues.
Thanks for joining us on SP, and enjoy your Saturday morning!!
